    Abstract
This is a concept paper based on literature review on complex adaptive systems and the research findings on the floriculture industry in Kenya. A wide range of issues on complex adaptive systems are discussed. These issues include: definition of complexity; the meaning systems; the level of complexity of the floriculture industry in Kenya and managing complex adaptive systems. Preliminary research findings on the supply networks optimisation under complexi apparent that there is a need for further developments in all these areas. As such, the issues provide a basis for a research agenda in complex adaptive systems.
