The main problem covered in this research study stems from security reforms done by the government that have not resulted in improved performance, but criminal activities have rather increased. The underlying challenges causing below-average performance have not been fully studied thus hindering the roles played by security officers. The study aimed to understand the relationship between motivation as an explanatory variable and performance as the dependent variable. The study purposed on finding out the impact's motivation has on the security sector by focusing on the County of Nairobi. Law enforcement in Kenya is primarily offered by the National Police Service organization. The rampart increase of crime against persons in Northeastern area in Nairobi is the problem to be investigated on how transactional leadership will help to carp the crimes. The mixed design used for this research encompassed exploratory, descriptive, as well as qualitative elements where the regular police were employed in the sampling frame. Information gathering from respondents was done by a questionnaire. Data analysis focused on performance of police officers and how it was attributed to motivation. The target population include police officers in charge of Northeastern area of Nairobi County, Sub-counties, police stations, police posts, police patrol Bases and the Government Administration representative at informal settlements. Questionnaires were subjected to a sample size of 184 respondents using purposive sampling techniques from selected police officers and Government administrators. The quantitative and qualitative data collected was analyzed by use of SPSS (the Scientific Package for Social Sciences) and Microsoft spreadsheet. The result indicates that, insecurity occurs because of increased unemployment rates, illicit brew, drug abuse and trading. working harmoniously with the police service. From the findings, measures put in place by the Government of Kenya to provide security to the citizens are good, but luck the aspect of proper policies and follow up procedures to motivate the primary law enforcers. The recommendation of the study is that the government of Kenya together with involved stakeholders should provide enough motivation to the police in order to enhance them performance and the delivery of services.Other
