Item ASSESSING THE ROLE OF MANAGERS IN IMPLEMENTING TECHNOLOGICAL CHANGE IN PUBLIC TRAINING INSTITUTIONS: A CASE STUDY OF THE KENYA SCHOOL OF GOVERNMENT, BARINGO CAMPUS(management university of africa, 2020-11) Eddah Chepkurui Cheruiyot; Isabella SileThis study aimed to assess the role of managers in implementing technological change in an organization at the Kenya School of Government. The study was motivated by the concern of slow and abnormal resistance witnessed with emerging technological changes aimed at transforming the performance of an organization. Institutions of learning are knowledge management centered and therefore, utilization of recent technologies to stem up performance such as efficiency, employee performance, corporate relationships and internal knowledge management mechanisms is integral. The limited ease of managerial support, ineffective communication, inadequate training, stalled stakeholder input or involvement has been zeroed in as areas of concern in change management in particular with government institutions. Therefore, this study was poised to examine the effect of environment in implementing technological change at the Kenya School of Government and establish the effect of communication in implementing technological change at the Kenya School of Government. Also, the study endeavored to find out the effect of managerial resistance in implementing technological change at the Kenya School of Government. Finally, the study sought to assess the extent to which training contributes to implementing technological change at the Kenya School of Government. Resource Based Theory, Lewin's Three-Step Change Theory, The Dynamic Capability Theory, Knowledge-Based Theory, and Managerial Hegemony Theory guided this study. The study adopted a descriptive research design in undertaking this study. The study was conducted at the Kenya School of Government covering 178 employees who are staffers at the institution. Through, simple random sampling technique, the study sampled 50% of the target population to inform and respond to the questionnaire which is the main research instrument for data collection. The study utilized a descriptive statistic design to analyze on data collected from the field. Presentation of results was in form of graphs, charts and tabulated tables with respective interpretations and discussions provided. The study found out that there is an effect of environment, communication, managerial resistance, and training on the implementation of technological changes of institutions. The study is important to the departments, Agencies, County and National Governments in Kenya, the Council and management of the Kenya School of Government, staffers and technological service providers, academicians and researchers with interest in change management, leadership and general management of public.Item BUSINESS ENVIRONMENT EFFICIENCY AND COMPETTIIVENESS OF LOCALLY MANUFACTURED GOODS BY AUTOSTERILE EAST AFRICA, KENYA(management university of africa, 2021-04) Margaret Wambui Kamau; Isabella SileThis study investigated the influence of business environment efficiency on competitiveness of locally manufactured goods by Auto sterile East Africa, Kenya. This study used case study design. This study sampled 69 respondents, including 8 top level employees, 22 middle level employees and 39 lower-level employees in Auto sterile East Africa. Census sampling was used to select the respondents. Secondary data was obtained from the Auto sterile East Africa publications that touches on determinants of competitiveness. Questionnaires used in the survey formed the primary data and was analyzed by use of Statistical Packages for Social Science version 23. Linear regression analysis was done to test the relationship between the independent and dependent variables. The study findings led to the conclusion that business environment efficiency have a positive relationship with competitiveness of locally manufactured goods. The findings revealed that business environment efficiency is significant determinant of competitiveness of locally manufactured goods. It was found out that the demand for goods and services and political stability influences competition of goods and services. However, access to these services remains uneven, impeding economic engagement and welfare development. This study focuses on the impact of financial technology access on household welfare within Green Park Estate, Nairobi County, Kenya, addressing the disparities and exploring avenues for inclusive progress. The specific objective was to determine the effect of access to electronic payment systems on household welfare in Green Park Estate, Nairobi County. The study used the Social Capital Theory. It employed a descriptive research design and targeted 500 households in Green Park Estate. Cochran formula, which was used to reduce the sample to 157 respondents. Simple random sampling technique was used to select the sample respondents. Data analysis was conducted using SPSS version 25, and the findings were presented using chats and tables. The study findings revealed that access to electronic payment systems had a positive impact on household welfare. Electronic payment systems enabled households to better manage their payments, and financial savings innovations positively correlated with household welfare. Based on the study findings, the researcher recommended that financial institutions should work to mobilize more households to fully adopt technology in their financial systems. Financial organizations should collaborate with households in Upper Savanna to develop better financial savings innovations, and the government should provide cheap loans to households to protect them from exploitation. Further studies should also be conducted to determine how these variables affect household welfare.Item PERSONAL CREDIT SCORE AND ACCESS TO AFFORDABLE CREDIT; A CASE STUDY OF THE NCBA GROUP PLC, KENYA(management university of africa, 2023-11) Jared Okoth Awuor; Isabella SileTo determine the level of risk default that a client or household presents and assign a risk score to each client, to ascertain the validity of the credit score and household borrowing, to examine trends in credit portfolio diversification, to guarantee adequate controls over credit score, the study aims to examine and establish personal credit scores and access to affordable credit in accessing affordable credit, a case study of the NCBA Bank Group PLC Kenya. Targeting 170 personnel, namely the corporate risk manager, project manager, branch manager, credit risk manager, and operations manager of the NCBA Bank, Kenya, a descriptive study approach was used. 30% of the workers in a survey of 35 branches out of 64 branches were used in the study (51 employees). Both primary and secondary data were employed in the investigation. The primary data will be administered with the questionnaire, and data presented in form of tables and pie charts. It is recommended that in order to assess specific banks’ capacity for portfolio risk management and the creation of expert-based scorecards, focused consultations with those banks are necessary. In addition, there is need for launching a large-scale effort to standardize the gathering of financial statement data, ratio computations, collateral quality measurements (type, loan to-value ratio, lien position), and performance data for loans and deposits. This would eventually allow for the creation of a pooled credit scorecard that includes not only credit bureau data but also the other essential components of a strong NCBA Bank, Kenya scoring model. The days of implementing broad-based policies are being replaced by in-depth evaluations of the market circumstances and a better effort to comprehend the increasingly complex wants of consumers. Additionally, it must be made known that the Credit Information Sharing Mechanism opens up new avenues for obtaining official credit.
