    DETERMINANTS OF EMPLOYEE PERFORMANCE PRODUCTIVITY IN PRIVATE INDUSTRIES: A CASE STUDY OF THE EQUITY GROUP HOLDINGS LIMITED

    This study examined factors that determine employee performance in private industries in Kenya using a case study of Equity Bank, Upper Hill being a case study. The key factors examined in the study include employee motivation, staff skills, performance appraisal and leadership. Literature review revealed that indeed that are key factors that determine employee performance in organizations. However, the specific effects these factors have on productivity of the employee still needs to be determined. For this reason, the researcher collected and analyzed data to identify how each of the factors influence employee productivity. The study utilized a descriptive format where the effects of any given factor are described. The data collection was done using a questionnaire which offers a lot of advantages which the researcher has taken. However, with the current COVID-19 pandemic, the key limitations of the study were small sample size. Data was collected from a sample drawn from employees of the bank in Upper Hill. The findings of the study revealed that the factors that had the greatest impact on employee motivation are leadership and work environment.
