Item FACTORS AFFECTING PERFORMANCE OF SUPPLY CHAIN MANAGEMENT AMONG PUBLIC RESEARCH INSTITUTION IN KENYA(MUA, 2023-05) MULKI DUBOW ADENVarious institutions have adopted Supply Chain Management as a tool to help in learning them. The purpose of this study was on factors affecting performance of supply chain management among public research institutions in Kenya a case a case study of Jomo Kenyatta University of agriculture and technology. The study was guided by the following specific objectives; (1) to establish the effect of data sharing, (2) to determine the effect of customer demand and (3) to determine the effect of inventory control policy supply chain management at Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology. A descriptive research design was chosen because it was easier to collect accurate, objective data from selected area. The study was based on factors affecting performance of supply chain management among public research institutions in Kenya, using stratified random sampling. The study used primary data which was obtained by the use of the questionnaire with close ended questions was administered by the researcher to each of the respondents using drop and pick later method. Data obtained was analyzed by use of descriptive methods such as mean, variance and standard deviation. Thereafter data was then presented in form of frequency tables and figures. The following are the key findings from the study it was clear that customer demand formed a key pillar in improving the institution mode of operation. In addition to this inventory review permitted real-time updates of inventory counts, which made it easier to know when to reorder items to replenish inventory. Finally, Making data available and sharing it with the partners, an organization can speed up the flow of data within SC, improve productivity and effectiveness and decrease the response to the market time.
