FACTORS AFFECTING VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN IN ELDAS SUB COUNTY IN WAJIR COUNTY, KENYA: A CASE STUDY OF CENTRE FOR RIGHTS EDUCATION AND AWARENESS

Abstract

This research aimed to identify causes of violence against women in Eldas Sub County, Wajir County, so that appropriate measures might be taken to lessen its incidence. In doing so, it aimed to add to the existing body of information about the causes of violence against women in this area. This research aimed to better understand the causes and consequences of violence against women in Eldas Sub County, Wajir County, Kenya. The following goals served as the basis for this research: The goal of this study is to assess the impact of anti-violence training programs on female victims of violence in Kenya. Examining the connection between women's property rights and domestic violence in Kenya The purpose of this study is to determine the effect of socialization within communities on gender-based violence against women in Kenya. The purpose of this study is to determine the effect of power dynamics on the prevalence of violence against women in Kenya. Hopefully, the study's results will help those with a stake in the issue to zero in on the specific techniques that have been successful in their own countries, therefore giving financial, physical, and emotional agency to victims of violence against women. The government may take heart from this report as well. In light of the study's results, policymakers in Kenya's education system may decide to include coursework on domestic violence prevention and intervention in the national curriculum. The research relied heavily on three theories: Bandura and Weaver's (2016) Social Learning Theory, Kelman and Weaver's (1958) Theory of Social Influence, and Merrill and Weaver's (1992) Feminist Theory (2016) Descriptive methods will be used in this study. Participants consisted of 149 women aged 15 to 49 from Eldas Sub County, Wajir County (149). To guarantee that every demographic is fairly represented in the data set, a stratified random sampling strategy was used. A questionnaire consisting of both structured and unstructured questions was the primary tool for data gathering. Qualitative and quantitative methods were used to examine the data.
