Abstract

Proper waste is the most important elements in human kind. Proper waste management is importance both to the environment but also to human health. Research project was carried out to study the factors influencing waste management system in Embakasi South Constituency in Nairobi County. The factors studied included low waste collection, increase in waste creation, type of the waste material and the low residents’ responsiveness in the activity The research project has different areas of interest which include the following: Background of study where the factors of study are explained from the global perspective to down to the sub county. Both dependent variable and independent variables are explained in this chapter. The chapter also expounds statement of the problem, objective of the study, significance of the study. In chapter literature related to the waste management was studied. The chapter is done after the researcher has reads different journals and articles on waste management. Different theories relevant to the topic of study, Empirical literature, Conceptual framework and research gaps. In Chapter three the following sub topics are discussed: Resign, target population, sample size and sampling techniques, data collection, data collection instruments, pilot study (validity and reliability), data collection procedure, data analysis and ethical considerations. In chapter four, data is analyzed and presented in form of tables and figures. SPSS was used in data analysis. Chapter five contains summary of the findings, conclusions and recommendations.
